Sync drifting apart? How to fix it
JustZix sync is solid, but with several devices it can happen that libraries start to differ — you see a rule on your laptop that is not on your work computer. Recent versions added tools that let you diagnose and fix such drift quickly. Here is a practical step-by-step guide.
Step 1: compare the numbers
Open the Dashboard and note the numbers on the Library tile. Then open the sync panel, switch to the Status tab and find the Cloud library section. If the numbers match, your local library and the account are in agreement. If they do not, you have drift — and you immediately know which way: more locally or more in the cloud.
Step 2: check the sync history
In the same Status tab, the sync history shows the recent operations. Expand the entries — you will see what was sent or pulled, when and from which device. If some change never appeared, the history reveals it.
Step 3: run a full resync
The simplest fix is the „Full resync with account” button in the Status tab. It works both ways — it pulls the whole library from the account and sends the local entities the account is missing. This fixes the classic case: an entity got stuck locally and never reached the server. The resync is non-destructive — it will not revive what you deleted, nor undo fresher changes.
Where drift comes from
A short explanation so you know what to avoid. The most common historical causes were: an entity created before its upload succeeded; an action deleted without information about its parent rule, so it lingered as a „ghost” on other devices; a pull cursor skipping unfetched entities. All three were fixed in recent versions — so first make sure your extension is up to date (the Version tile on the Dashboard tells you if a newer one exists).
When ghosts remain from the old days
If you see more actions on the Dashboard than in the Cloud library section, those may be „ghosts” — actions deleted long ago but not removed from another device. A full resync from the account re-applies the old deletion markers and such ghosts disappear. After the resync the Dashboard and cloud numbers should match.
Prevention
Keep the extension updated on every device — drift most often came from mixing old and new versions. After a bigger library cleanup, check the Status tab and confirm the numbers match. That is ten seconds that saves an hour of guesswork.
